Arthur was a straight-A student at John Adams High. His films garnered multiple film-festival honors and he's apparently friends with Ted Turner, who gave him a written recommendation for an internship at WIXB. He was very impressive at the interview, winning many kudos from Sonja Cannon, an important executive at the station. His resumé was many pages long.
Knowing he was likely to get the internship, Arthur told Eric he could walk in without pants and still get the job. Unfortunately for him, Eric got the job because he impressed Pat Darby, the president of the station, with his work ethic.
