Teacher's Bet

From Boy Meets Wiki

[edit] Synopsis

Convinced that teaching Elementary School is an easy job, Cory makes a bet with Mr. Feeny that he can be the teacher for a week and have more kids than normal pass the test, Cory betting his bike and Mr. Feeny betting a fraction of his weekly paycheck. Cory, however, ignores the Diary of Anne Frank he's supposed to teach about, in favor of goofing around. He introduces himself to the class as Hey Dude, elliminates the dress code, allows Topanga to replace her desk with a yoga cushion and meditate, and assigns Minkus to get a life.

Alan, worried about Cory's bike, questions the exact terms of the bet. Cory realizes that since Mr. Feeny would be taking the test as a student, he would be at the top of the curve and more kids would fail. He tries to get his act together and teach the class, but finds it has gone out of control and gives up.

Later, he watches Eric comfort his girlfriend Linda after some jerk called her a racial slur at the mall. Inspired by the event, Cory goes back to the class and makes a passionate speech against predjudice, tying it into the book. In the end, the same number of people pass as normally and the bet is a draw.
