Cory: You know, when you and I started going out, everything was so exciting for me, you know? I mean, like, every day was something different.
Topanga: There's just no mystery anymore.
Cory: Yeah. And I see Eric and Shawn going on their dates, you know, so psyched, wondering what's gonna happen.
Topanga: We've forgotten what that feels like.
Cory: Yeah. And then, you know, I ask myself how I feel about you, and... I feel like I still care about you as much as I always have, you know? And that'll never change.
Topanga: Are we breaking up? I don't wanna break up. Because when people break up, they always end up hating each other.
Cory: Well, we're not other people, Topanga. Well, actually, we are, but... but we could never hate each other. No matter who we are, right?
Topanga: We are breaking up, aren't we?
Cory: No! No. We're not. We're never gonna break up.
Topanga: Cory, maybe the people who end up hating each other are the people who waited too long to break up.
Cory: So are you saying you want to break up with me?
Topanga: I'm saying I wanna keep caring about you as much as I care about you now.
Cory: Then we should break up right away so we can still stay great friends.

Plot

Once again, Cory and Topanga spend their Friday night watching sappy movies with Amy. All parties involved soon come to realize that Cory and his girlfriend are "in a rut", and they need to change their ways. So the next Friday night, Shawn and Cory attend a party at another high school. Not only that, but after some girls think that Cory is Shawn, he fails to correct them. This leads to him having fun at the party.

Little does he know, Topanga is also at the party, pretending to be a French foreign exchange student. Purely by accident, they catch each other, and quickly go outside to talk. They both agree that they needed to "get out" and "do something exciting". This helps them realize that there is no mystery left in their relationship, and they mutually decide to break-up.

Meanwhile, Eric is busy playing and winning at a card game with the other teachers, who believe he is cheating & have no proof. However, it is later revealed that he possesses the ability to count rapidly - thus he had been inadvertently counting cards.

The tag at the end of this episode shows various moments in Cory and Topanga's relationship, with the song "All I Know" being sung in the background.
