Shawn's Uncle Ralph was in a documentary, but had his face and voice obscured.[1] In one of Shawn's poems, he is noted for living on welfare.[2] After Cory messes up at a make-out game, Shawn repeats Ralph's advice to Cory, "It's not what you did, it's what they can pin on you."[3]
